As a professional artist rooted in both art and design fields, Rina Naik seeks to inform her visual practice with multi disciplinary knowledge. Her body of work is comprised of paintings and small experimental collages/sculptures. She works in many medias but uses cold wax with oils for most of her painting. Drawing inspiraton from the New England landscapes, Naik creates stunning works deeply informed by her Plein air work. She employs it as her way of getting to know a place its color, light, texture, topography, smell and atmosphere. A process of of falling in love with a place. After obtaining her BSc & MFA in Interior Design, Naik pursued a certificate of Drawing and Painting from RISDce. She has received several awards for her artworks including Best Emerging Artist in 2018 at the Art Providence Holiday Show.
