Kelly Styne
Kelly’s work oscillates between abstract artists such as Gerard Richter and the sublimely layered color fields of Mark Rothko. Her textual paintings are bright and often humorous renderings, reminiscent of Ed Ruscha’s work with a twist. Kelly’s paintings are distinguished and brought to life by her clever and evocative titles (e.g, “Chicken Enchilada”, “Skinny Dip”, “Cry Baby”…). Kelly was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and her midwestern heart and sense of humor are reflected in her work. Kelly’s career has spanned multiple creative industries, including film, design, editorial and fashion. Kelly serves on the board of the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA and uses her pop textual art to spark positive conversations about mental health and to share a message of positivity and humor.
